V6 Mustang: I fixed many suspension and brake issues on the V6. It now makes no more squeaks or rattles and feels like a new car on the road. I increases the air pressure in the tire in hopes to hit 20mpg/city as well. We did see a milestone 27mpg on the way to Houston. First time I've made a trip to north houston and back (almost 400 miles) on one tank.

Moving: I will be moving to a new house on June 20th. Pictures on the side. The duplex is located in Hewitt, Texas near Waco. It is a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom / 2 car garage style house. The backyard is huge and the view is great. Note to young men: Don't let crazy women move into your place...

Update #1: Our club MustangTrends participated in the Dot Com Shootout event at Texas Motorplex this weekend. We took home the club-victory and were awarded the trophy shown in the picture as well as $25 gift cards to the Motorplex.

Update #2: I personally competed in the ET Street class at the event. I won round 1 easily, faced off against the track manager "Moose" in the semi-finals and squeaked a win by .0018 of a second. Finally, I lost in the finals due to a missed 4th gear shift. All this action can be viewed in the video. It was a very successful day and the car was running harder than ever!

Update #3: We used up all of Saturday painting the (what used to be) black mustang. We spent much of the week sanding and prepping the body and finally it was ready to be sprayed. I went over it with two coats of Performance Red and two coats of clear. The picture does not do it justice - it turned out great! Now I just need to get the thing running and find an interior for it.

My runs in the Dot Com Challenge ET Street class.

The Car:

1992 Mustang Coupe with a 5.0L v8 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Bought from a military guy at Ft. Hood in Septmember of '07.

The engine features a set of GT-40p heads, a custom cam, cobra intakes, 60lb/hr injectors, 80mm MAF, BBK longtube headers, and a Vortech A-Trim supercharger.

Backing the engine is a T5 manual transmission and a custom built 6-puck clutch in between. The rear is a fully built spool system (solid axles, no differential). 10" Slicks are utilized at the race track to try and put all the torque to the ground.

The engine was tuned at HPP Motorsports where it made 325 HP and 360 torque.

Towing the car back from Dallas with Cliff's truck & car trailer.
New Mustang

2/25/2007

This weekend, I purchased the Mustang. I bought it from a private party in Dallas for $1,600.  The car ran and drove from the moment I bought it. We immediately discovered some problems, and some good things that came along with it.

First, the tires were deflated (15psi) so we filled those back up. Next, a new tank of gas was in order and we took off for the evening to explore Waco with the new 'stang and see how it ran.

Of course, we hit our first problem. After we finished dinner, the car cooled down and we discovered how damn hard the thing is to start when the block is cold. Later that night, we discovered no choke! The choke was wide open, and nothing was there to operate it. That's when we discovered that the carburetor was jerry-rigged together. So, replacing it will be a first priority.

So I spend a little cash to improve the condition of the car. We bought a chrome air filter / cover piece, and some parts to get the 3-gauge pod (included in the purchase) working. Oil psi, engine temp, and voltmeter. We discovered a few small, but fixable leaks. I bought a throttle return spring to fix the extremely hard pedal (the dude used what looked like a trampoline spring...yikes).

Total Money Spend on this project: $1,700
